This is Me: the good, bad and the ugly

The Dominant Testosterone of a 2.5 year old

As Jake gets older, it is becoming more and more apparent that girls and boys are so different. Luci maybe hit other kids and even Jake a couple times but it never got bad that it was out of control.

I’m hoping it’s just a phase but it’s gotten to the point where today we had to leave Chick Fil-A because while he was climbing in the play place, he hit every kid on the way up the tree and anyone who was in his way to the slide.

The other day at music class he was blatantly walking past other kids and running into them or slyly hitting them when he thought I wasn’t looking.

Everyone is aware that he has a destructive streak in him and is like a tornado taking everything out in his path, but I didn’t think my sweet little man had this aggressiveness in him.

The good thing is that when I told him it was time to go because he was hitting kids he was genuinely hurt and sad that his actions were why we had to leave.  Yes, he pouted most of the way home and was sad when Luci got to eat her ice cream in the car and he didn’t, so at least I know he knows something about his behavior is not right.

And now I not only have one boy that is probably going to go through this phase, I have TWO! I’m hoping that in the next six months to a year, we will be able to use this energy in sports. Yes, this sheer brute force will definitely be a force to reckoned with on the football or soccer field but for now he’s just that kid who hits and has to be disciplined A LOT.

I will the say the funny thing is that I don’t have a lot of sympathy for Luci when he wails on her cause she used to do it to him all the time. Yes, I do discipline him but in the back of my head, I’m laughing that he can now sit on her.
