What the Heck is a Mimi & Dodo?
Please tell me that we aren’t the only family in the world that makes up words for every day objects.
Definition of Mimi: A milk cup, milk or breast milk or any white substance that is drinkable.
Definition of Dodo: A made up friend that Luci created. She met him in preschool (which she had not attended yet as of the Summer of 2010), he has pink hair, black arms and yellow hands. He’s a good egg and hasn’t gotten in trouble at our house yet.

The Purpose of Mimi & Dodo
Mimi & Dodo was created in February 2011 while I was sitting in my kitchen realizing that my last blog is no longer an outlet for me to talk about our family, my kids, and the craziness that ensues at our house everyday. Now, it’s not because the last blog was a bust, it’s just turned into my business and while I know that my clients want to hear me write in my voice, they probably don’t want to hear me blabber on and on about my weight loss struggles, how cute my kids are and what not.
I needed a place to talk candidly and openly about what is going on in our every day life. As a Work at Home Mom, who spend 24/7 with her children and rarely takes time for herself (even though I tell other moms that it’s a must), I really just needed a place to share and vent, depending on the subject.
I am definitely not a parenting expert but I, like many others have questions that I need answered and I hope that this can be a place for you to feel open about sharing your life experiences with us as well.

At 30 (oh my), I have been trying to lose weight or figure out how to stay healthy most of my life and not just my adult life. When I was younger, I dealt with food issues as well. I’m definitely one of those people that when I find a snack I like, I can just eat and eat, and have a hard time know when enough is enough.
When I started college, I had a good hold on my eating habits and worked out regularly. I was happy with my weight for once. Then when I transferred to Ohio State, I started working at Graeter’s Ice Cream, probably not my smartest job choice but it is what it is and I gained about 25 pounds over the 3 years that I worked there. Ugh, just thinking about it makes me gag.
Needless to say, that I never got rid of that extra weight, got married and then started having kids. I was always under the impression in my head that after I was done having kids, I would really buckle down and focus on losing the weight. Then I realized, we still plan on having one more kid, but I don’t want to go through my early 30′s being unhappy with my weight.
My kids are only young once and I want to be healthy, show them how to be healthy and have the energy to chase them around. I also came to the conclusion that there was no need to wait to start doing this, plus maybe I really could have the healthiest next pregnancy possible (not pregnant or soon) that I have always dreamed of.
Earlier this year, I joined a Facebook group and one of my friends in there was talking about Isagenix and how it helped her get off her meds and on top of that drop 20 pounds in about 2 months. I am one that is easily bought into the hype of losing weight in a short period of time, BUT was this something that I could actually commit to, doubtful.
In this time, I would follow her blog and read her stories about how she was doing the program. Yes, I’m not going to lie, I was getting more and more intrigued. I also did my own research and realized that I’m probably not eating the best for my life. It’s no wonder that I have a hard time maintaining my weight and losing weight in the first place. Yeah, those 100 calories snacks are good for portion control, but what is in them? And really eating three packs of them kind of defeats the purpose.
I recommend watching Are You Toxic?
When you’re done watching that video, check out a few of the others – BUT be prepared, it’s going to tell you the truth about what is going in your body!!! It’s rather depressing, shocking and mind blowing – but also inspiring, when you decide to do something about it.
I am going to start my IsaLife next week and to keep myself truly accountable. I want to be able to prove to myself that I’m worth it and even though the beginning measurements and weight is truly eye-opening, I have a feeling the results will be worth sharing my embarrassment at the start.
I’m really looking forward to getting my old self back, being healthy and being the best mom I can be!
I would love for you to join me, just email me at: afatica@gmail.com and check out the products to see what will work for you!
